WELCOME TO LITTLE TIMBER FARMS!
If you were to come for a visit at the end of the 7 mile road, just north of Blackduck, you would see generations of cattlemen and women at work. We have been working here since the 1930s to raise cattle, crops, and generations of kids. We began as many farms did, with a plow, a cow, and a sow. Through the years, we have developed a passion for raising cattle that stand out among the competition.
About Little Timber Farms
Currently, Little Timber Farms is owned and operated by Rachel and Al Gray, along with their children, Nick and Andrew, and Rachel’s parents, Murl and Sue Nord. Rachel’s uncle Albert is also an instrumental part of the operation. Most recently, the family has grown with the addition of Nick’s wife Mackenzie and their two children.
Rachel, Murl, and Nick operate the farm on a daily basis with the help of Ethan, a long time employee. Everyone else pitches in as needed. On days when there are cattle to be worked, you are likely to find a barn full of help!
What We Do
Little Timber Farms specializes in bred heifer development. We procure top end replacement heifers from ranches that share our passion for great cattle. We raise those heifers through the winter. Breeding season begins in May. By the end of May, the heifers are turned out onto some of the best grass in northern Minnesota. We focus on raising top end, first cut replacements that will work hard in your herd.
